The Weston Echo was started in 2009 by Matthew Stone with the aim to provide a community driven local news and opinions online newspaper to give the people of Weston and North Somerset a place to properly air their views without the censoring of the traditional media.

Matthew Stone has lived and worked in Weston-super-Mare almost all of his life and has always taken a great interest in local affairs both within the residential and business sectors. He is currently the I.T. Operations Manager for an award winning local company and has over 10 years of experience in Business Information Technology.
